B1700 hydostatic drive footpeddles

I just bought a 1996 B1700 , and the back-forward foot peddles seem to stay down after you take your foot off-- also when you are at the higher revs(going faster) on the engine and let-off on the forward peddle to press the back one it sort of stops quickyl and jerks you forward. The individual I bought from, said the dealer told him that it just needed a linkage adjustment. Has anyone else run into it problem??

Lbricate the shaft that the petals are on. That will help loosen the petals up and that could also be part of the other problem as they might not coming back to center. ....
